Do the speakers in the front need to be the same in the back?

It’s always wise to choose front and rear speakers from the same manufacturer to prevent distracting timbre differences between the pairs. Another way to ensure the same sound from the front and the back is to use identical speakers when possible for both pairs.

Is it bad to have different brand speakers in car?

If necessary, speakers of different brands can be mixed and work decently well. Otherwise, mixing brands and types of car speakers will cause a level of noise distortion, especially when mixing speakers between the left and right channels.
