How many HDMI inputs does a tx-sr309 have?
The TX-SR309 has 5.1 audio channels and three HDMI v1.4a inputs that allow you to immerse yourself in 3D video content with an Audio Return channel and connect to 3 high-definition sources such as a Blu-ray player, a gaming console and a cable/satellite tuner. What kind of audio does Onkyo tx-sr309 have?
With high-definition audio in the form of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, this entry-level A/V receiver would be a good affordable purchase. The TX-SR309 looks very similar to the TX-NR509, only differing in size. It sports a nice brushed aluminum finish and retains the black fascia similar to previous Onkyo models.
Why is the sound not working on my HDMI TV?
HDMI communicates with all of the HDMI-connected devices and requires authentication (a.k.a. handshake) from each device. Since the DVI jack on the TV is not HDMI, authentication cannot occur and may cause the A/V receiver to not produce any audio. Contact onkyo and they should help you by fixing the broken part. Normally if its a onboard chip as i’m assuming it is, they are almost impossible to fix without expensive tools. Contact them and see what they can do, if they cant do anything, let me know and ill give you another option.

How to get no sound from HDMI to TV?
Look on pg 36 of your manual. If you don’t have one you can download it here. 1. Hit Receiver button on the remote 4. Change the setting to THRU, its probably on AMP right now. W hen THRU is selected no sound is output by the receiver. Sound will be output to the TV.
