How to find the IR codes of any IR remote?

If you want to make an IR based project with a remote which you bought from the market or the remote of your AC, TV ,etc. then, you should be aware of the codes which are sent by the remote to the IR receiver in the appliance or device. IR remote has a button and a microcontroller with IR LED attached.

How does a microcontroller send an IR Code?

When a button is pressed, a microcontroller identified the button and sends the corresponding modulated signals (codes) to the IR LED. Then, the IR LED sends it to the IR receiver in the appliance. We can’t see the infrared (IR) light because their wavelength is not in our spectrum.

Where can I find list of infrared codes?

However, I want the actual specifications so I can control the IR diode (s). LIRC has a repository of remote controller codes where you can find the codes for various manufacturers of infrared remotes. Something like this?

What to do when your IR device does not respond?

Press the ‘Test IR’ button. If the IR device does not react, continue trying different code sets and device types. If you have an IR capable CommandFusion device, such as a CF Mini or IR Blaster, you can find the correct database codeset to use by sending the commands via an IR emitter until the IR code works.

Where can I find a discrete IR Code?

The discrete IR code database and forums over there are really second to none when it comes tracking down a discrete code. Unfortunately some devices only have toggle commands, and this can either make is a real pain to use with a programmable remote, or down right impossible.

How does discrete IR work on a TV?

This is where discrete IR commands come in. The remote knows the TV should be on, so it can send a command that it knows will always turn the TV on, even when the TV is already on, so the command will just be ignored. This way the remote and the devices can never be out of sync.

What is an example of an IR Code?

So in the example of the power button, its function toggles between turning the thing on and off. The remote always sends the same code, but the device responds differently depending on its state. Put simple, when it is off, the IR code turns it on, and when it is on, the IR code turns it off.
