As a reel to reel I gave it a reasonable rating because the unit worked well and gave me that 60’s sound that you can get with a good tape instrument. But. I also record digitally and the noise floor on this unit is quite high, but again not bad for a 4 channel tape deck.

Why is my TEAC multi track reel to reel not working?
When play or wind are selected, large solenoids clunk and release the reel brakes and move the pinch wheel. This was working BUT occassionally and only in play the right reel brake solenoid didn’t move, leaving the brake on, causing the tape speed to slow, back tension to increase and wow to go crazy!
