What to do if your CD is stuck in the drive?

CD stuck in the drive If you suspect that a CD may be stuck in the drive, the tray needs to be ejected manually. Look for the small manual eject hole (not the headphone jack) on the front of the drive. Unwind a paper clip and place one end of the paper clip into the hole to eject the CD-ROM tray.

Why does the CD-ROM, DVD or other disc drive tray not open?

If CD-ROM tray opens part of the way, pull it gently to see if you can get it to open fully. If it cannot be opened any further, it is likely that the gears in the CD-ROM drive have become damaged or dislodged. But usually, a stuck CD is blocking the way. Why does my computer CD drive not work?

No power to the computer or disc drive. If you have recently installed a new optical drive or you have moved the computer, the power cable to the CD-ROM may have become loose or disconnected. Reseat the power cable to make sure this is not the problem. Check the cable connections.

What should I do if my CD drive won’t open?

If it doesn’t open gently, the disc is probably dislodged. Carefully try to maneuver the disc so that it’s sitting where it should. If that won’t work, try to find a way to remove the disc without ruining either the disc or the drive. If you continually have to use the paperclip trick, you’ve got a bad drive.

What should I do if my CD player is stuck?

Grab a blank or useless CD. This method involves inserting a second CD into the player, so, to prevent damage to a beloved album, try to procure a blank CD or one that you otherwise don’t care about. Turn the CD player on before proceeding. If this requires you to start the car, then start the car and turn the CD player on.

Why is my CD player not working in my car?

Some CD players may not function when the car is turned off. For these players, try pressing and holding the power and eject buttons while the car is running. Consult the player’s manual.

What to do if you cant eject a CD from your car?

If you’re unable to eject or load your CDs, the most likely culprit is a blown fuse. Pop the hood of your truck to access your vehicle’s fuse panel. Locate the radio fuse, which is 15 amps. Remove the fuse for several seconds, and then reinsert it. This will “re-set” the software program that controls the radio. Check your radio.
