Can a Yamaha arc work with a Samsung TV?

apparently Yamaha ARC and Samsung TVs aren’t exactly compatible. A possibility is to use an optical digital audio cable to the Yamaha (from the TV). I’ve spent several hrs. funging with the Samsung and the RX-V577 receiver.

ARC Problem with Yamaha Receiver. ARC is not a source, but smply the means by which audio is conveyed back to the receiver from the TV via HDMI. If configured correctly then AV4 TV input will be the default source you use in conjunction with ARC sourced audio. Read the manual.
