What’s the sound coming out of a Yamaha adapater?

The voltage coming out of the adapater was double what is rated for the piano. It turned on and worked until the volume was turned up and then POP! That’s the most awful sound you can hear coming out of (expensive) electronics. Then a couple of weeks later I did find the original Yamaha AC adapter and plugged it in.
